Peruvian Palo Santo
Palo Santo is a product of dead or fallen branches of the bursera graveolens tree. It is native to parts of Central and South America and is from the same family as frankincense, copal, and myrrh. It is believed that the bursera graveolens is a sacred tree that holds many spiritual powers.
The many uses of palo santo include: energy purification (smudging), aiding in meditation, keeping mosquitoes away, enhancing creativity, and clearing negative energies.
Peruvian palo santo is usually cut larger (thicker) and more rectangular than Ecuadorian varieties. Its scent can include a mix of mint, citrus, and/or diesel.
We work with companies that support farmers who harvest and support sustainable and regenerative efforts to ensure long-term availability of bursera graveolens trees. These farmers adhere to strict government regulations on the harvesting, processing, and distribution of palo santo.
